INNOAQUA at the 39th EFFoST International Conference 2025

EFFoST International Conference 2025

The INNOAQUA project was presented at the 39th EFFoST International Conference, held from 17–19 November 2025 in Porto, Portugal. As one of Europe’s leading scientific events focused on food innovation and sustainable food systems, EFFoST2025 provided an excellent platform to highlight INNOAQUA’s research and contributions to the future of aquaculture and seafood value chains.

Leitat Technological Center, an INNOAQUA project partner, presented the research poster:

Recovery of Protein from Non-Compliant Surimi Sticks for the Production of New Food Ingredients.

This innovative work explores new avenues for the valorisation of food industry side-streams by recovering high-quality proteins and transforming them into sustainable, value-added ingredients. This research supports INNOAQUA’s vision of integrating circularity and resource efficiency into modern aquaculture and food production.

EFFoST2025 centred on the theme “Fostering the Transition to Sustainable Food Systems: Embracing Novelty and Overcoming Challenges.” The conference brought together global experts to discuss:

  • Novel food sources and ingredients
  • Greener and more efficient processing and packaging technologies
  • Digitalisation in food system transformation
  • Strategies to empower consumers and build resilient supply chains

INNOAQUA’s presence reinforced the importance of algae-based innovations, ecological approaches, and circular resource use in shaping the future of sustainable aquaculture in Europe and beyond.
