The INNOAQUA project was showcased at AlgaeEurope 2025, held from 9–12 December 2025 in Riga, Latvia. The conference took place at the Radisson Blu Latvija Conference & Spa Hotel and brought together around 380 participants from 38 countries, confirming its position as one of the leading international gatherings for the algae sector.
INNOAQUA was represented by project partner A4F, contributing both an oral presentation and a scientific poster to the conference programme. The event provided a valuable platform to engage with researchers, industry representatives, and innovators working across the algae value chain, from strain development to large-scale biorefinery concepts.

During the conference sessions, A4F presented INNOAQUA’s ongoing work on strain and cultivar isolation, a core scientific pillar of the project. The presentation highlighted how identifying and characterising high-performing algae strains is essential for advancing sustainable aquaculture practices and developing high-value algae-based food and bio-based applications.
In addition to the oral contribution, A4F also presented a poster on seaweed biorefinery activities carried out within INNOAQUA. The poster sessions, held alongside the conference programme and trade show, enabled in-depth technical discussions with peers and facilitated exchanges on processing pathways, value extraction, and the integration of seaweed into circular bioeconomy models.
These interactions offered valuable feedback and reinforced the relevance of INNOAQUA’s work within the wider European and international algae research community.
