At ECO-Evolution, ECO Imagination presented the INNOAQUA project, an initiative dedicated to pioneering innovative solutions in aquaculture. The presentation highlighted INNOAQUA’s vision of integrating land-based aquaculture systems, such as salmon and microalgae production, to enhance resource utilization, reduce environmental impact, and create new, high-value seafood products.

During the presentation, ECO Imagination explained how INNOAQUA aims to demonstrate the benefits of combining the production of salmon in Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS) with the cultivation of microalgae. This innovative approach leverages nutrient-rich water from salmon tanks to nourish microalgae, resulting in high biomass productivity and efficient nutrient recycling. The project’s goal is to create a model that can be replicated and scaled up across the aquaculture sector, fostering a new generation of sustainable seafood products.

ECO Imagination also emphasized the importance of research and collaboration in achieving INNOAQUA’s objectives. The project is supported by a consortium of leading researchers, industry partners, and stakeholders across Europe, all committed to advancing sustainable aquaculture practices. By focusing on innovative technologies, smart resource management, and circular economy principles, INNOAQUA is paving the way for a new era of sustainable seafood production.
