“Nutrients in Aquaculture and Fisheries” Workshop, 10–12 June 2025

Innoaqua - Nutrients in Aquaculture and Fisheries

We are pleased to announce that the INNOAQUA project will presented in the “Nutrients in Aquaculture and Fisheries” workshop, taking place from 10–12 June 2025 in Bergen, Norway, and online.

The event is co-organised by the INNOAQUA project coordinator NORCE, in collaboration with the European Sustainable Phosphorus Platform (ESPP) and other key partners.

NORCE will present INNOAQUA’s innovative work on valorising aquaculture waste streams through microalgae production. The presentation will focus on the project’s advancements in growing microalgae on aquaculture sludge (reject water) and their subsequent use in high-value food and feed products, demonstrating how INNOAQUA contributes to creating more sustainable and circular aquaculture systems.

The workshop will gather international experts, researchers, policymakers, and practitioners to discuss critical topics such as nutrient flowsenvironmental best practicesphosphorus recycling, and regulatory challenges related to aquaculture and fisheries.

Importantly, the workshop’s outcomes will support the UNEP uPcycle project, contributing to a UNEP white paper focused on phosphorus sustainability in aquaculture.

Participants will also have the opportunity to join two site visits directly connected to INNOAQUA activities, offering a closer look at state-of-the-art aquaculture facilities and fish sludge processing installations in Norway.

This international event is a significant opportunity to showcase INNOAQUA’s contributions and strengthen collaborations around nutrient recovery and sustainable aquaculture innovation.
