The INNOAQUA project was represented at Alimentaria Barcelona 2026, one of the world’s leading international trade fairs for the food, gastronomy, and hospitality sectors. The event took place from 23 to 26 March 2026 at Fira Gran Via in Barcelona, bringing together key actors from across the global food value chain.
Project partners PESCANOVA and LEITAT attended the event on behalf of INNOAQUA, showcasing the project’s innovative approach to sustainable aquaculture and algae-based food solutions. At the stand, visitors had the opportunity to discover tangible examples of innovation such as surimi extract derived from algae-based processes.
Alimentaria Barcelona 2026 served as a unique international platform, gathering over 110,000 professional visitors and more than 3,300 exhibiting companies. This year’s edition marked a significant evolution, merging food, gastronomy, and hospitality into a single, integrated platform covering the entire value chain (from production to food service and equipment).
Participation in such a high-profile event provided INNOAQUA with valuable visibility among industry stakeholders, researchers, and business leaders from around the world. It also created opportunities to exchange knowledge, explore market trends, and foster potential collaborations in the field of sustainable food innovation.
