European Maritime Day: A Brief Overview

The European Maritime Day is an annual event that brings together maritime professionals from across Europe and beyond. It focuses on promoting the blue economy and the sustainable management of the seas, oceans, and coastal areas. This year’s theme, “Sustainable Blue Economy for Green Recovery,” highlighted the importance of balancing economic growth with environmental stewardship.

Key Highlights from NORCE’s Participation

NORCE representatives delivered insightful presentations on the latest advancements in aquaculture technology. Our coordinator introduced the INNOAQUA Project in a workshop dedicated to highlight some of the latest EU project on algae, sparking engaging discussions among participants, highlighting the potential for collaborative efforts to address common challenges in the maritime industry.

The EMD provided an excellent opportunity for NORCE to network with other maritime stakeholders, including policymakers, industry leaders, and fellow researchers. This networking facilitated the exchange of ideas and the exploration of potential partnerships, essential for advancing the goals of the INNOAQUA Project.

NORCE also participated in the exhibition segment of the EMD, where they showcased innovative technologies and solutions under developmentin the INNOAQUA Project. By sharing the progress and achievements of the INNOAQUA Project, NORCE not only highlighted the potential of advanced aquaculture technologies but also reinforced its role as a leader in maritime research and innovation.

Looking ahead, NORCE aims to build on the connections and insights gained during the EMD to further propel the INNOAQUA Project. The collaborations initiated at the event are expected to pave the way for new research endeavors and technological advancements, contributing to the overarching goal of a sustainable blue economy.
