From 13th to 15th May 2025, Leitat participated in the Food4Future – Expo FoodTech in Bilbao, a major international event that brings together leading innovations in automation, AI, packaging, logistics, and sustainability for the food and beverage industry. The event served as a valuable platform for promoting the EU-funded INNOAQUA project, which focuses on sustainable aquaculture and the development of high-value algae-based ingredients for food systems.

Leitat’s stand actively engaged with visitors over the course of the three-day fair, raising awareness about INNOAQUA’s objectives, technologies, and progress.

A key highlight of the stand was the presentation of a surimi hydrolysate sample, developed within the INNOAQUA project. This prototype showcased the potential of upcycled seafood by-products in creating functional ingredients for the food industry. Many attendees expressed particular enthusiasm for the role of microalgae as a sustainable and versatile resource, confirming the project’s alignment with emerging market trends and the growing demand for eco-innovative food solutions.

Participation in Food4Future not only helped to broaden INNOAQUA’s visibility but also confirmed the relevance of its work in reshaping the future of food. The feedback received highlights the sector’s appetite for practical innovations and functional ingredients that contribute to a more circular and resilient food value chain.

Leitat’s involvement in the event reflects its ongoing commitment to bridging research and industry, and to supporting the transition toward healthier food systems.
