INNOAQUA will join YAS25 in Almería, Spain

Innoaqua - Young Algaeneers Symposium - YAS25

Dr. Dorinde M.M. Kleinegris, Principal Investigator in Microalgae at NORCE Norwegian Research Centre and Associate Professor in Marine Biotechnology at the University of Bergen (UiB), will be among the distinguished speakers at the Young Algaeneers Symposium (YAS25)

The event will take place in Almería, Spain, from June 3-6, 2025.

With a strong background in bioprocess engineering from Wageningen University & Research, Dr. Kleinegris has dedicated her career to advancing research in microalgae strain selection, cultivation, process design, and sustainability assessments. As the coordinator of the INNOAQUA project, she brings valuable insights into innovative and sustainable aquaculture practices, making her a key contributor to the symposium.

On 26 May 2026, the INNOAQUA project successfully hosted its Workshop on Seaweed and Fish Integrated Multi-Trophic Aquaculture (IMTA), bringing together a diverse group of stakeholders from across the aquaculture and blue biotechnology sectors. The online event was co-organised by project partners A4F – Algae for Future, SEA EIGHT, and INESC TEC, and aimed to foster discussion on innovative pathways towards more sustainable aquaculture systems in Europe.
