Following the success of the first webinar on combined species production systems in Europe and Southeast Asia, INNOAQUA and the European Aquaculture Society (EAS) invite researchers, producers and industry stakeholders to join a second webinar exploring the role of algae in the future of sustainable aquaculture.

Taking place online on 11 September 2026, this edition will turn the spotlight on South America, exploring innovative uses of algal extracts and their potential applications in both food and non-food sectors.

Algae are gaining increasing attention as a source of high-value compounds and sustainable ingredients. This webinar will showcase how algae-based innovations can contribute to more circular and resource-efficient aquaculture systems while creating new opportunities for products and applications beyond the food sector.

By bringing together perspectives from research and industry, the webinar will explore how algae-based innovations are moving from concept to application, highlighting both current achievements and future opportunities for sustainable aquaculture.

During June 2026, the SAFE–AWARE–INNOAQUA Summer School brought together researchers, students, industry representatives and innovation stakeholders to explore how circular bioeconomy approaches can help shape the future of sustainable aquaculture. Organised as a joint initiative between the three Horizon Europe projects SAFE, AWARE and INNOAQUA, the online programme created a space for collaboration and knowledge exchange, bringing together expertise from across research, industry and policy to explore pathways towards more resource-efficient aquaculture systems.
