The Horizon Europe-funded INNOAQUA project is pleased to support and co-organise the upcoming workshop on nutrient in aquaculture and fisheries, hosted by the European Sustainable Phosphorus Platform (ESPP) in collaboration with NORCE, UNEP uPcycle, and a wide network of international partners. This three-day hybrid event, taking place from 10 to 12 June 2025 in Bergen, Norway, is recognised as an EU Green Week Partner Event and will contribute to the development of a UNEP White Paper on phosphorus sustainability in aquaculture.
Most Europeans still see microalgae as a niche “superfood” trend. Yet, this tiny powerhouse holds immense potential for sustainable food systems, bio-based materials, and aquaculture innovation. That’s where PEDAL Consulting steps in. As a key partner in the EU-funded INNOAQUA project, we lead strategic communication, dissemination, and exploitation efforts. Innovation shouldn't stay in the lab but reach people, policies, and markets across Europe.
As the INNOAQUA project drives forward the development of innovative algae-based solutions for sustainable aquaculture, Sustainn plays a central role by leading Work Package 5 (WP5): Sustainability, Safety, and Regulation. This work package is essential to ensuring that the project’s technologies are not only innovative but also environmentally sustainable, socio-economically beneficial, and aligned with regulatory standards.
The INNOAQUA project represents a pioneering initiative with the objective of effecting a transformation in the domain of aquaculture through the implementation of innovative, sustainable solutions. In the context of growing demand for environmentally friendly food production methods, the INNOAQUA project unites research institutions, industry leaders, and sustainability advocates in the development of forward-thinking approaches to aquaculture.
The INNOAQUA project was showcased at Aquaculture 2025, the world’s largest aquaculture conference, held in New Orleans, Louisiana (USA), on March 8, 2025. The European Aquaculture Society (EAS), a key partner in the project, presented INNOAQUA in the Integrated Multi-Trophic Aquaculture (IMTA) session, highlighting its innovative approach to sustainable aquaculture.
